RE: 1999 Fleetwood Southwind 36T

I have a 2000 National Tropical gasser (one of the last ones built with a tag axle) with 275hp v10 (with a Banks git kit - probably adds 25 hp), just rolled over 102000 miles on last trip (Yuma to Branson to Mt. Rushmore to Yellowstone ended Sacramento). Lived in it full time from April 2000 until September 2007. Loaded weight with toad (2002 Jeep Liberty, before that was a 1997 Jeep Wrangler) is about 25,500 lbs. Only non routine parts changed were Egr valve because of buzzing noise and a speed sensor which was not the problem). They were replaced while in for a routine plug change at about 92000 miles. No breakdowns, emergencies, flats or any service other than done during routine maintenance. All appliances are still original and working fine. Still running original hoses and Serpentine belt and they still check out as excellent.
LMCNEIL - Add Koni FSD's and Goodyear 670's or Michelins. Put as much weight as possible forward on front axle (up to max rating).

RE: Water line Screens

Most inline filters are just for preventing sediment from getting into your system. If you are not using one continuously then that is why you are getting sand in your system.

RE: Suburban water heater door issue

Looks like it could be the wrong door to me. The vents clearly do not appear to be in right pace.

RE: scan gauge II ??????

jwill5046@aol
With Xgauge you should be able to get trans temp on v10. You need to program in the right code (make double sure code is entered properly). It works on my engine.

RE: KOA A FORMER FAMILY KAMPGROUND

The side of the road is better than most KOA's (value for the price is way out of line at most).

RE: How many miles on your V-10, any problems?

I have a gasser with 275hp v10 (with a Banks git kit - probably adds 25 hp), now nearing 100000 (99270) miles. Loaded weight with toad is about 25,500 lbs. New egr replaced because of buzzing noise. No breakdowns, emergencies or any service other than routine maintenance while on the road.

RE: 2001 Dolphin Tropical Question

Most gas Tropicals had 450 watt inverters that only powered select outlets. Mine powers front tv, vhs / dvd player, outlets in front of passenger seat, rear tv and two outlets on the nightstands. Does not power major appliances - one solution is to run generator for microwave, coffee etc.

RE: Days of Supply on Dealers lots

If you want something to worry about - worry about this. When 40% or 50% of the people in this country start struggling to just put food on the table how are they going to view our big bucks class A rv's roaming the countryside?

RE: inverters

I have a 450 watt inverter which came with the motorhome. It powers the front TV and electronics (vcr/dvd) plus an outlet for laptop computer. It also powers the rear TV and both nightstand outlets (used for phone charging etc). I have two six volt Trojan batteries. I can go two nights and days running everything before I either have to run the generator or (as is usually the case) start the RV and drive somewhere else. I have a battery condition monitor (trace) which I installed that constantly gives me picture of battery state (amps in, amps out etc.) I have been doing this for 7 1/2 years and 100,000 miles successfully.

RE: Ford F53 Suspension Problems

Rather than do that replace the whole front suspension with the Kelderman (sp) system. I'm not sure why so many people experience such a harsh ride. I believe it has very much to do with lack of weight on the front axle and tire pressures. I have driven my F53 chassis 100000 miles and I have test driven most every rig out here (mid level down, diesel and gas) and believe it or not my ride is equal to most and better than many. Only ones that I considered noticeably better was a Country Coach and a National RV Islander built on a Country Coach frame. I did add Koni FSD's about year and half ago and that also made ride even better. My weight on front axle is 6800 pounds and air pressure is 85 pounds. Never had a flat and never had a blowout.
